No, he does not think that, nor does he want the answer to his question--he just wants to keep asking it---to divert attention away from the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah, died and was crucified--a direct refutation of the Quranic lie that Islam is based on:

A pity, because it really is an interesting point. If Barabbas' name really was Jesus as the NIV variant assserts then it sets up an interesting dichotomy:

Of course these are clearly two seperate people. One who may have been named Ἰησοῦς (Jesus--and this is certainly a minority reading) but was known as Βαραββᾶς (Barabbas) meaning in the Aramaic "A Son of A Father" and the other who was definitely named Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) "who is called Christ or Messiah" THE son of THE Father.
The crowd tragically chose the wrong Jesus, Barabbas--a cheap substitute Jesus. Jesus being the hellenized version of the Hebrew יְהוֹשׁוּעַ (Joshua) meaning "Jehovah is Salvation." Barabbas was a murderer and an insurrectionist, i.e., he was trying to bring about a cheap temporary salvation--from the Romans.
Christ is the true "Jehovah is Salvation" who brought about eternal salvation by dying on the cross as our substitute.
But the people chose the cheap substitute Jesus Barabbas--and as a result, their temple and their city were destoyed 40 years later (the Biblical number of Judgement) by the Roman legions of Titus.
The Muslims are doing the same thing today--choosing the cheap effete substitute Jesus of the Quran--just another non-descript prophet--one of many and rejecting the true Jesus Christ of the Bible--the Lord God and Savior of the World.
My prayer is that Winnert will finally stop asking the question, and ruminate on the answer, and receive Jesus Christ, the true "Jehovah is Salavation" as his Savior:

The Crucifixion and the Holocaust
The death and crucifixion of Jesus Christ was to the ancient world what the Holocaust is to the modern world--a fact so well documented in so much intricate detail by so many different sources that to deny it brands one as a lunatic.
Thus Peter in Acts 2 could proclaim boldly in front of the crowds in Jerusalem:
"this Man...you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death...this Jesus whom you crucified." Acts 2:23,36
and the two men on the Emmaus Road could say:
"Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?" 19And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, 20and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him. Luke 24:18-20

Nothing could be more clear. Luke was writing History of the highest caliber.
Extra-Biblical references are just icing on the cake. The four Gospels record the detailed history of the death and crucixion of Jesus Christ.

Why I reject the Quran - A Proof
A. The Quran claims to be a Book from God that agrees with the prior Book from God. The prior Book from God is the Bible:
If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been reading the Book from before thee Surah 10:94
He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel. Surah 3:3
B. The Quran says that Jesus Christ is not God:
They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary Surah 5:17
C. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is God:
looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ Titus 2:13
Therefore, the Quran says it agrees with the Bible, but does not agree with the Bible. It thus is internally inconsistent, and must be rejected.

That is obvious from Isaiah 9:6 where there are four names (1. Wonderful Counsellor; 2. Mighty God; 3. Father of Eternity; 4. Prince of Peace) and from Matthew's quotation of Isaiah 7:14 where he applies Immanuel to Jesus in the sense of what Jesus is: "God with Us" (Matt 1:23). That is what these "names" mean. They are characteristics of what Messiah would be.

Why not pause here and ruminate. Clearly the entire Bible is permeated with the Doctrine of the Deity of Jesus Christ.
Why not fall on the stone (Jesus Christ) and let your proud heart be broken in pieces, and accept the Eternal God, Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, otherwise, the stone will fall on you and scatter you like dust, and you will spend eternity in the lake of fire:

Godseer is spot on. I have been debating with Muslims for a while now and they are all form and no substance. I can't blame them though. They are trying to sell a pile of dung, Islam, to the world. The only way they can do this is through lies and deceit. The only course of action they can take when knowledgeable Christians confront them with Biblical truth is blustering, sidestepping, and incoherent drivel--anything to try to change the subject.
So sad for them, and dangerous--this life can end in an instant--and if it ends for WinnerT, Farzana, and their ilk--without them repenting and receiving Jesus Christ as Savior--they will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire--with the author of their religion of Islam--Satan.

How do you reconcile these two mutually exclusive truth claims?
1. That Jesus Christ is certainly God:
For in Him (Jesus Christ) all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form Col 2:9
2. That Jesus Christ is certainly not God:
They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary." Surah 5:72
Since Jesus Christ cannot both be God (Col 2:9) and not be God (Surah 5:72) one of these statements must be true and one must be a lie.
So which is true and which a lie and why?
